Miss Nancye Hanna, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs. Thornton Jackson, Remuera Road, is spending a holiday in Wellington. Mrs. M. Godby, Christchurch, and Miss M. Foster, Hamilton, are at the Station Hotel. Miss Molly Peacock, is the guest of Mrs. Jack Kingston. Princos Street. v Miss Mona Blair, Gisborne, who has been spending a holiday in Auckland has returned nome. Miss Mary Walker, Orakei Road, Remuera, has returned from an extended visit to Wellington and Wanganui Mrs. S. W. Moffett, and Mrs. John Milward, Wanganui, are the guests of Mrs. W. R. C. Walker, Orakei Road. Remuera The Hunt tea, which it has been the custom of Mr. and Mrs. Wills McLaughlin to give at Puhinui at tho end of the hunting season and which was to have taken place on Tuesday next, has been indefinitely postponed 6n account of Mr. McLaughlin's recent accident. A card evening in aid of the Gladstone branch of Brownies was held at the home of Dr. Allan Macdonald, New North Road, Mount Albert, on Thursday evening. The prizes were presented by Mrs. Allan Macdonald to Mrs. FTavlor and Mr. J. Day. Mrs. T. Blake and Mr. F. Restrick were presented with consolation prizes. Among those present were Dr. and Mrs. Macdonald, Mesdames J. Day (president), W. Waring, R. Restrick, C. Swanson, A. Hutchins, T. Murray, W. Ryan, R. Richardson, W. Sugclen, E. OWharn, W. Smith, J. Heald, l>. Rout, T. Blake, T. Whitaker, W. Schraft, A. Jarrett, F. Taylor. . " The Avondale Town Hall was the scene of much gaiety on Wednesday night, when the Avondale Tennis Club held its annual ball. The hall was charmingly decorated with spring flowers and palms, and many pretty frocks were worn. A novMty tap-danc-ing item was rendered by Mr. A. Hartneady. The ladies of the committee who were present were: —Miss L. Potter, who wore aqi;arrell satin; Miss iNancy Porritt, black and red crepe marocam; Miss M. Myers, floral organdie; Miss M. Green, green satin Miss !•. Johns, primrose taffeta; Miss Betty ritt, aquarrell crinkle crepe; Miss h. Wilson, primrose crinkle crepe.
