TELEGRAPH POLE BROKEN

STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR' DRIVER'S FORTUNATE ESCAPE An eight-incli telegraph pole was snapped about three feet from the ground when a car collided with it on the Great North Road, between Point Chevalier and Avondale, yesterday morning, but the driver escaped without serious injuries. In falling, the upper part of the pole became lodged on the rear of the car, and was carried some distance before the car stopped. The length of pole remaining in the ground was forced forward by the impact. The car suffered considerable damage.
