ORAKEI MAORI VILLAGE
IMPROVEMENTS IN YEAR FURTHER WORK PLANNED Good progress with the improvement plan at the Orakoi native village in the past year was .reported at, a meeting of the improvement committee at the week-end. The committee was congratulated on the success of its efforts and it was reported that a substantial sum had been collected as a result of weekly dances and from other sources. As a result it had been possible to paint and paper the meeting house, in which entertainments were held, amU last week a new dance floor had been laid down. Further contemplated improvements were stated to be the erection of a now bath house and a kitchen and the planting of trees and flowers. A Maori festival with poi and haka entertainment would bo held in September.
