CROQUET IN ENGLAND

LITTLE INTEREST SHOWN NEWSPAPER'S COMMENT LONDON. August 6 The Morning Post, referring to the fact that an English croquet team is to leave for Australia shortly, deplores the fact that nobody in England displays the least interest, though. if tliey were cricket, tennis or Rugby players, the interest would be intense. "Croquet is a popular Australian sport, with thousands of players and many thousands of spectators," says the paper. "The contest for the croquet 'ashes' will attract large sates and the progress of the games will be hot news. Why is not England interested in croquet? "When the English discover croquet's virtues, Rofehampton will become as famous as the Oval or Wimbledon."
