This is the closest Grammar has been pressed for several seasons. Play throughout was fast and open and, with the issue always in doubt, it was consequently a most entertaining and interesting spectacle. The i?amc developed itself chiefly into n bottle royal between the lively Sacred Henrt forwards. who dominated their opponents in every phase of forward ploy, and the pacy Grammar rearguard. It was characteristic college football, and easily the best secondary schools match of the present season. Jn the second spell the play changed from epd to end continuously, and Grammar mode strenuous efforts to score, only to find tho Sacred Heart defence hearty and unyielding. Sncred Heart was penalised, however, and Sayers revived the Grammar hopes wjth a good kick. Shortly afterwords »the same player gathered in the ball irf 3 clever style and. making adequate use of hip puce, flashed across for a capital try in the corner as he was tackled. Grammar was later penalised and Hare equalised the score with ft good effort. Thereafter the Grammar defence was tested to the utmost, as Sacred Heart made despairing efforts to draw uhead, but, before it could drive noms any form of aggrosaion, time wai: sounded and a great earn 6 ended with the score Sacred Heart College, 9; Auckland Grammar School, 9.
