ECLIPSE OF MOON

PARTIAL PHASE THIS WEEK VISIBLE IN DOMINION' A partial eclipse of the moon, which will occur on Thursday nignt, end in a on Friday morning, will be visible throughout the Dominion. The eclipse will begin at 9.20, when the moon will enter the penumbral shadow, which consists of a mixture of sunlight and shadow. The stage of eclipse where the shadow becomes visible to the naked eye will occur at 10.24, when the moon makes its contact with the umbral shadow.

The middle of the eclipse will occur at 11.45, at which stage nearly seventenths of, the moon's diameter will be covered by the earth's shadow. The eclipsed portion will then steadily crow less, until at 1.6 a.m. on Friday the moon will leave the umbral shadow. Penumbral eclipse will continue, however, until 2.10.
