The selection bf five Auckland players for match f.gain'st~ tlie South Island is an outstanding success. Mr. V. R. Meredith, sole selector to the Auckland Union, and also one of the All Black selectors, nominated six Auckland players for New Zealand honours. Four of them, Caughey, Corner, Knight and Hadley, played at Wanganui yesterday, and all evidently acquitted themselves with credit. The two players nominated by Mr. Meredith who did not play in Wanga-.» nui were McLean and R. G. Bush. McLean has been added to the quartet above-mentioned. Bush's claims do rot appear to have yet been put forward seriously. . The two teams will assemble in Auckland to-morrow morning. Accompanying them will be the Zealand selection committee, Messrs. E McKenzie, Meredith, A. A.. Adams, West Coast, and A. J. Geddes, Southland. Mr. Geddes is substituting for Mr. W. T. Pearson, of Otago, who is unable to come North owing to illness.
