OPENING AT MOUNT ALBERT Tho official opening and At Homo of tho Mount Albert Lawn Tennis Club was hold on Saturday afternoon under perfect weather conditions. Thero was a very largo attendance of visitors and members. Tho president, Mr. A. L. Cauchey. in a speech of welcome, referred to tho great amount of work dono by the committee in tho past year and the improvements made to tho grounds nnd appointments. Mr. P. Harrison, president of tho Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, congratulated the club on its membership and on having six grass courts and three chip courts in such excellent condition. The Mayor of Mount Albert. Mr. R. Ferner, in officially declaring the season open, touched on tho vast amount of tennis now played in New Zealand and throughout the world. He nlso mentioned the vnlue of such a club as Mount Albert had to the borough. Mrs. A L. Caughey served tho first bnll and a progressive tournament was. then continued, the winners eventually being Miss McClnv and G. Holdsworth. The ladies' committee dispensed afternoon tea. MOUNT ALBERT METHODISTS The official opening of tho Mount Albert Methodist Lawn Tennis C'lub for tho season was held very successfully on the club's New North Road court on Saturday afternoon. Tho president of the club, tho Rev. A. Mcßean, in declaring the season opea. said that this year, for tho first time, tho club had the use of two grass courts. Ho hoped, nevertheless, that it might poon bo possible to lay down peimanent courts on the church property The first ball wa3 served by Mrs. E. C.
