FINAL RESULTS
MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
ENGLAND AND WALES POSITION OF LABOUR 25 BOROUGHS CONTROLLED By Tel esraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received Novembe. 3. 8.15 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. -2 The final results of tho municipal elections in England and Wales, show that Labour gained many seats, mainly at tho expense of the Conservatives. Taking the 346 councils in England and Wales as a whole Labour secured a net gain of 176 seats, while the loss of the Conservatives was 106. Labour, however, controls only 25 boroughs, 13 of which were captured at this election. hereas the Labour leaders are delighted at the success of their candidate), there is disappointment over tho net result.
Tho Evening News says: " The Government's niggardly and unimaginative slum clearance projects may account for Labour's municipal gains but it is pure speculation to look beyond political swings of the pendulum. The elections reveal that a strong, stable and benevolent dictatorship is the only way to get efficient government."
