FALSE CLAIM MADE [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] "WELLINGTON, Friday Found guilty in the Supreme Court of attempting to obtain £IOO by false pretences from an insuranco company in connection with the burning of his motor-car, John Phillips, aged 39, came beforo the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, and was ordered to come up for sentence within 18 months if called upon. His Honor said if it had appeared that prisoner was responsible for tho firing of the car and tho removal of parts he would not have hesitated to pass sentence of imprisonment. The costs of the case amounted to £35, and he ordered prisoner to pay these in 12 monthly instalments.
