WEEK-END SPORT

SPRING RACE MEETING CRICKET SEASON CONTINUED The spring meeting of the Auckland Racing Club, which will commence today and conclude on Monday, is an important feature in an interesting programme of sporting events arranged for the week-end. There will be a girls' sports carnival at Blandford Park this afternoon, including a massed drill display, under the control of the Auckland Girls' Athletic Association. In continuation of the cricket season matches in the various grades will be played. Numerous bowling clubs have arranged a series of inter-club and home tournaments for to-day. The concluding stages of the golf season will be marked by club championship and handicap finals at some of the clubs, and at others there will be closing-day functions.

Yacht races for W class sailing boats will be held on the Waiiemata Harbour and at Orakei Basin model yachts will be sailed. The first race of the rowing season, an inter-club contest for the Barrett Cup, will be contested by the five clubs on the Waitemata. The sport of cycling will be represented by open track events at the Papatoetoe Stadium and the conclusion of the road season by the Auckland Club.
