FINAL TRACK WORK
SMART TiMES RECORDED
ROUND BY ALL HUMBUG
ROYAL ARTIST IMPROVED
BY ARCHER Ihe No. 2 grass was available for galloping at Ellerslio yesterday and eouio interesting work was accomplished. The going was excellent and the horses had a high wind behind them up the straight, several recording good times. Riotous was going comfortably to complete six furlongs in 1.23 3-5. 110 is in fine racing trim and should give a good account .of himself in his engagements at the meeting. Senegal was timed to run three furlongs in 43 l-ss, and Star Artist covered the same distance in 40 3-ss. Star Artist benefited by her recent racing and ia now better conditioned than when sho won at Avondale last month. King's_ Archer, after running the first two Tj finished five furlongs in 1,3 3-5, ile hit out very freely and has mado good since winning at Cambridge. Aga Khan worked over a round, running the last six furlongs in 1.22 1-5. He looks well and it should not bo for lack of condition if ho fails to raco prominently in his engagements. Royal Artist was sent once round, hitting out in good stylo over the last six furlongs in 1.18 3-5. Recent racing has wrought improvement in Royal Artist's condition and he is rendv for a good effort to-day. Whenuakura finished his work over five furlongs by running tho last three in 37 3-ss. Gay Egypt hit out nicely while running three furlongs in 375. He has a nice turn of speed, and should mako a creditable showing in the Welcome Stakes. Prolyxo covered six furlongs easily in 1.26 2-5 and View Halloo also did strong work, both striding along evenly. Prolyxo seems to have benefited a good deal by the races she had at Cambridge and Paeroa. Psychologist, with a good move-up. sprinted three furlongs in 36 3-ss. He has been working nicely nnd may make a showing in the Gordon Handicap, although he will probably be betcr for ft race.
Porotiti was under restraint while running half a mile in 51 l-ss, and Desert Star ran the last three furlongs of a round in 41s. All Humbug was responsible for a nolid gallop over a round in 1.44 3-5, running tlio last seven furlongs in 1.32 Q-5 and the last three in 40s. All Humbug infused plenty of dash into his work and is in fino racing trim.
Count Lendroff, after reeling off the first two in 2o 3-ss. completed five furlongn in 1.5. He has a lot of speed for a hunter and appears to be a very useful horse with good prospects to-day. WHANGAREI MEETING NEXT THURSDAY'S FIELDS
