• The Auckland Racing Club's Spring Meeting will be openetl at Ellerslio today, when the chief races will be the Mitchclson Cup, the Great Northern Guineas and tho Welcome Stakes. Splendid fields are engaged and some keen contests aro anticipated. Recent form euggests good chances for Exaggeration and Puss Moth and both should be very dangerous. Pomp and Hampton Park read best of the others. All Humbug is well, but'may find the iourney a shade far in a truly-run contest Baroscope and Desert Star may be the best of tho others, although Allegretto is an improver who should not be disgraced. Count Lendroff is a recent winner over, hurdles and has made n good impression in his work since arriving. Zane Grey's second in the Waikato Hunt Cup entitles him to respect and it is in his favour that he is a reliable fencer. Hauwai and Taha may bei the best of the others, although'Creina'a King would liavo a chance if fit. Mother Superior was a winner at Trenthum and appears to be very smart, while Gay Egypt created a good impression when ho won at his first start at I'aeroa.
