ATHENIAN CLUB

The Athenian Club hold a fancy dross ball in the Manchester Unity Hall this week. A wonderful variety of costumes was to be seen, many of which wero admirably carried out. The prize-winners were as follows: J?cst dressed couple: Miss H. Raindy and Mr. .7. Smith, 1; Mrs. Tichmarch And Mr. 2. Humorous couple: Mrs. W. Wright and Mr. P. Dawes, 1; Mrs. S. Brooks and Mr. S. Brooks, 2. , Most original costume: Miss Laura talker, 1; Miss Tichmarch, 2; Mr. Betts, 1; Mr. Curtis, 2. Best character: Mrs. Pettit, 1; Mrs. Curtis, 2; Mr. W. Wright, 1; Mr. McDonald, 2. Best costumes, Mrs. ('. Emanuel, 1; Miss G. Melville, 2; Mr. Elliott, 1; e i\ 2. Tho judges were Miss Cecil Hall, Mrs. York Gray and Mr. Ansell. A solo dance was given bv Mr. pnd Miss Stratton.
