GROUNDS AT EPSOM COST OF ABOUT £IOOO LARGE IMPROVEMENT PLAN As part of a comprehensive scheme to improve the Epsom Show Grounds, construction of a new show ring at the extreme eastern side of the grounds, at a cost of £'looo. will be commenced early next year, immediately after the Royal Show, which is to be held in Auckland on, February ?. 9 and 30. The bank will enable thousands of people to obtain an unrestricted view of ths show ring, which will be large enough for a football ground. At present the area is sloping country, 35ft. below the level of Green Lane Road. The ring when completed will be 33ft. below the road level, so that, only oft. filling will be necessary at the lowest portion. At yesterday's meeting of the council of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association it was decided to call tenders for the work, the ring to be grassed by April 20. It was stated the entire scheme, which has been well designed by the secretary, Mr. Tl. F. O'Donnell, was estimated to cost £.'7000. The rest- of the plan will be completed as circumstances allow. The improvements are alterations to the cattle sheds, at an estimated cost of £'2oo. providing for additional pens; temporary accommodation for dairy and beef cattle at the north end of tne cattle pavilions if and repairs to the fat' cattle pens, if required, which probably will cost about £'2-50: converting half the sheep paviiioxi for pigs at an estimated cost of £SO. and the erection of a new sheep pavilion at an estimated cost of £'475.
