ARMED WITH WEAPON
SHIPPING STRIKE SEQUEL ' YOUNG MAN FOR SENTENCE [BV TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] -WELLINGTON*, Wednesday An echo of the seamen's strike in May last was beard in the Supreme Court to-day, when Terence Welsh Flynn, a seaman, aged 23, was charged with being a rogue and a vagabond, in that lie was found armed with a bludgeon, with felonious intent. Evidence was given that accused was accosted by a constable on a wharf and the sawn-off heavy end of a billiards cue was found in his hip pocket. The defence was that accused had picked up the article in a shed on the wharf and had put it in his pocket, thinking it might come in handy for a hammer or something. The jury returned a verdict of guilty, with a strong recommendation to leniency, in view of accused's youth .and good character and the conditions' ruling at tlie time the offence was committed. Accused was remanded for sentence.
