HERD-TESTING WORK

NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION CHARGES AND STATE SUBSIDY [from oi'r own con respondent] \MILTON, Thursday A large number of delegates were present at the annual meeting of conveners of the New Zealand Co-opera-tive Herd Testing Association, held in Hamilton to-day. Tho chairman of the board of directors, Mr. Dynes Fulton, presided. The annual report and bal-ance-sheet, which have beeu previously published, were adopted. Mr.' Fulton said that development of herd-testing in New Zealand had been restricted by the depression. In spite of this, however, the number of cows tested had increased. Referring to the charges made for testing, Mr. Fulton said the Government subsidy for this year had been fixed at £6OOO. This subsidy was to be decreased by £IOOO in each succeeding year. The association's reserves would not be available to subsidise the cost of testing after the present season, and an increase in charges would probably take place The retiring directors, Messrs. W. H. Allen and R. A. Candy, were returned unopposed. Mr. H. P. Hazard was reappointed auditor.
