STEAMER FROM NEW YORK HOVE-TO FOR SIX HOURS Stormy cyclonic weather during tha -i last ten days of the voyage was experienced by the motor-ship Ashburton, which arrived from New York lastevening. The wind blew at periods with gale force from different directions and the conditions were accompanied by . high confused seas. Last Thursday a hard south-east gale was experienced and the high beam seas, which repeatedly broke on board, smashed some of the steam pipes cm deck and also damaged other deck'fittings. To prevent further damage tlw vessel had to be hove to for about lit hours. After the gale had moderated! and the vessel was able to resume her course and speed the weather continued boisterous almost the whole way to port.
