GARDENING CIRCLE A very interesting morning was spent j by a large number of members and friends of the gardening circle of the Lyceum Club iu Mrs. J. M. Wilson's beautiful garden in Portland Road, Remucra, yes- j (onlay. Velvety lawns were shaded by nianv large trees of great beauty and bor- ; dercd by beds of hydrangeas, at. present a glowing mass of pink and blue. Wind- j jng paths, edged witli plcits of dahlias, marigolds and salvia and ornamented with numerous pergolas ablaze with roses, scarlei, begonia, and purple jackinaui clem- j at is led downward lo the lily pond, with its attendant gnome-like stone fisherman. The pond is surrounded by masses of gorgoons Japanese irises, shaded from white j to deepest mauve and purple, and in its ; still waters many rare and beautiful lotus j and water-lilies are blooming. I'roin the j terrace, where tall delphiniums made a j beautiful picture against a trollised background of scarlet roses, a lovely view of din harbour and the whole garden is obtained. The lower garden, which contains many beautiful English trees, is, in addition,' the site of the orchard and kitchen garden, which also contained much of interest to (he visitors.
