TROTTING CUP CANDIDATES FORM OF KEWPIE'S TRIUMPH PETERWAH'S ASSESSMENT BY ABAYDOS The features of the training work at Epsom yesterday were sound displays bj the Auckland Trotting Cup candidates Kewpie's Triumph, Mountain Dell. Peterwah and Pageant. The dirt track was in good order and provided fast footingKewpie's Triumph (J. Gee) ran two miles ill '1.33. a good effort, but he was tiring the ' finish. This was not surprising, as it was only his second solid work-out since the October meeting, anil lie was sent along fast in tho early stages, lie ran the fiist half in 1.9, the second in 1.8, the third in l.f'.J and the fourth in 1.9 - With a costly skip on the last circuit Puterwah (K. J. Smith) completed'a mile and aTmlf in 3.26. He was assisted by Pageant (M. Morrison), who set a useful puce all the way, and Carnui (C. Smith), who went the last mile and a-quarter. Pageant paced well in front, reaching the mile m 2.21, at which point Peterwah, who went away a few lengths behind Pageant, was trotting faultlessly in a handy position. The trotter had the measure of his companions crossing the top, but left h'.s feet. Carnui and Pageant finished very strongly, with Peterwah coining fast to be handy ut the post. After passing the half in 1.15 she settled down to serious business and ran tho next mile in 2.20, each half at an even clip. Realty (U. S. Groat) conceded a start to Prince Etawali (K. A. Shepherd) and' Rolfc Audubon (L. Laver) and beat them home m 3.20 for a mile and a-half. Prince Etawali led to tho mile in 2.23?. but Holfe Audubon joined him as tho mile and a-quarter was passi 'J in 2.56', where Realty was *lose. Mitchell) ran two miles nicely in 4.52, and could have done better if driven along earlier. She took 2.30 for the lirst mile, but warming up to her work, ran 2.22 foj? the second mile, the Ijst half in 1.9*. Tho three-year-old has dono well while having a short let-up from solid work. Nathaniel (W. Willetts) finished better than Oliver Thorpe (A. Peters) at the end of a mile and a-half in 3.36. They were together at the mile in 2.27, but when tho last furlong was entered upon Oliver Thorpe dropped buck. Easing up, Nathaniel comXileted tho last half in 1.9. Modern Light (P. J. Smith) v.-as given several circuits at a steady pace, w;ih a sound run over tho last three furlongs in 535. .Modern Light has not raced this season, but is in splendid condition to undertake serious work for the Christmas meeting. Carl Mack (T. R. Morrison) had to be kept under u strong pull while .working the fust mile of a mile and a-half task with Carbloy (W. T. Dye) at a 2.37 gait, but stepping along over the final section, the trotter ran 1.12 very easily. Marble Star (J?. Milieu) was not timed while travelling numerous circuits on the sand track. He was sprinted occasional quarters, displaying plenty of dash. Marble Star thrives oil his long, steady work, and should bo very tit for his Rowo Cup engagement. La Triumph (J. Shaw) trotted alongside the Nelson Tasker colt (G. Webb). the "Worthy Bond filly (U. Herring), and the Metal colt (K. Morrison) for two circuits and then ran half a milo in 1.10, without being fully extended.

Although he will bo one of the backmarkers in tlie Cup, Colorado's performances prove him to be a genuine stayer and a pacer of more Ulan average ability, and Berry reports 11 ii n to bo in ureal order.
