RIFLE SHOOTING
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB
The third round in the second trophy series was completed by the Auckland City Defence Rifle Club at Penrose on Saturday, the ranges in use being SOOydB and 900 yds. The wind was very strong and it was praotically impossible to rend the changes in velocity from the flags. The scoring, consequently. was very low compared with the standard usually set by the club. V." Bowes was the only one who made a good scoio during the afternoon. A. Sommerville and A. Doel won a spoon each A'lth handicaps added. Scores off tho rifle were:— A Grade. —F. WHANGAREI. Monday
The Whangarei Defence Rifle Club held a shoot in the 300 yds and 600 yds. series during the week-end at tho Otuika range. The trophy for the day waa won by N. C. Shepherd (scr) with a score of 44 at 300 yds. 42 at OOOydB, total 86. Other scores were as follows:—Slnde Clnrk, 37, 44, 5 86; D. Wilton, 41. 40. 3—S4; H. Cowper. 33, 42, 5—80: E. A. Foot. 39, 35, 5—79; C. Ruddell, 37, 33, B—7B.
