LOCAL BODY LOANS
CONVERSION DIFFICULT
"The fact that £26,000,000 of New Zealand's total local body loan indebtedness of £65,000,000 is held overseas makes impracticable any scheme for the compulsory reduction of interest on this loan money," said the Mayor of One Tree Hill, Mr. J. J. Goldstine, at a meeting of the Borough Council last evening. A* request from the Otago Electric-Power Board for co-operation in urging the Government to introduce compulsory conversion of local body loans was declined.
