Evidence was given by a Maori/ Wai- J haki Ngamotu, that on Saturday after-ii noon he saw deceased walk from her father's residence near the lake shore at Waipahihi toward the beach and observed her standing near the water's edge. It was rough at the time. A little later ha saw deceased floating in the water, and with two other men removed the body from the water.
Deceased's father gave evidence thai" 7 his daughter had been an invalid for 15 ; years and was partly paralysacl. Deceased' at times lost the power of moving her hands or of speaking. She had also' a tendency to lose her balance, and on such 1 occasions would run forward until stopped by an obstruction. She was bright and cheerful.
The coroner returned a verdict that deceased died from shock occasioned %y fright, probably due to being knocked over by a wave and her inability to rise owing to her semi-paralysed state. - "
