SETTLEMENT OF CASE
ELECTION DAY ACCIDENT
[from our own correspondent]
HAMILTON, Monday
A settlement was reached in connection with a damages claim that was set down for hearing in the Hamilton Supreme Court to-day. The case was one in which William James Harris, road foreman, Cambridge, claimed damages from Airs. Minnie MoKinnon, of Cambridge, as the result of injuries plaintiff received when he was knocked down by defendant's car outside the Leamington Town Hall on election day, 1931. The claim was first heard at the last session of the Court, when the jury awarded Harris £689 damages. A newtrial was granted by Mr. Justice Smith' on the grounds that*the jury should havd found that there was negligence on plaintiff's part. The parties have come to an agreement under which plaintiff accepts £350, each party to pay its own costs. Mr. Strang acted for plaintiff and Mr. Johnson for defendant.
