PAKURANGA HUNT
MEET AT EAST TAMAKI Although no kills were secured, three splendid runs wero enjoyed by members of the Pakuranga Hunt Club yesterday, when a meet was held at East Tamaki. Conditions were almost ideal and there was a fair number of followers. The scent was not very strong, however. The hounds threw off on the property of Mr. T. Muir and worked through on to the Apple Farm. Hares were very scarce, and the hounds met with no success. Abandoning that portion of country they moved to Mr. C. Alien's property, where ei strong hare was noon put up. The quarry led hounds and riders a merry chase round Smale's Mountain, back to Mr. Allen's farm and on to the Greenmount Estate, eventually earnping in,, a, patch of gorße. It was not long before another hare was started. After circling the mountain it escaped, in rough country on the Greenmount Estate. A third hare wus raised shortly afterward and c.'avo the hounds a fast spin over practically the same ground as previously. Although the hounds worked well, they ran out of scent and lost tho quarry.
