CONTROL BOARD MEETING FORGOING OF GROUND. FEES CURTAIN-RAISERS ARRANGED Appreciation of the action of. the City Council in forgoing all ground fees in connection \nth the relief workers' teams in the mid-week competition was expressed at last evening's meeting of the control board of the Auckland Football Association. This is the outcome of the board's application to the City Council following the meeting on August 23. Letters of appreciation of footballs sent by Mr. W. B. Darlow were received from two relief camps. The transfer of J. McLeay from the Thistle Club to Onehunga was approved. The curtain-raisers for three main matches were arranged as follows:—September 17, Auckland v. Wellington, second grade final, Abel's v. Comrades B; September 24, H.M.S. Diomede v. H.M.S. Dunedin, Y.M.C.A. v. Tramurewa; October 1, Auckland v. Navy, midget game. The Thistle Club was granted permission to play Rotowaro at Auckland on September 24 and Glen Innes to play HuntlyThistle at St. Heliers on either September 24 or October 1. It was decided to inform the South Auckland Association that the game previously arranged for September 24 could not be proceeded with owing to the position of the various cimpetitions. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Auckland and All Black Rugby representative Mr. B. P. Palmer.
