GUIDERS AT OTIMAI

WEEK OF TRAINING A Guiders' training week is being held at present at Otimai, the New Zealand Guide Home in the Waitakeies. There are approximately 30 Gu:ders in training, who have come from many distant parts of the Dominion, including as far south as Dunedin. A number who cannot spend the full time in training have attended on odd days and will attend at the weekend. Miss Joyce Duthie, of Wellington, Blue Cord Diploma Guider, is in charge of the training. Special programmes have been arranged for each day, these including practical guiding, games and hiking. Each evening Camp Fire is held in the Pine Room of the home, where Guides learn new choruses and songs. Yesterday a number of Brownies and Tawny Owls from various city and suburban packs spent a most enjoyable time learning new games and discussing some of their particular difficulties. In the absence of Mrs. W. R. Wilson, the Dominion Commissioner of Girl Guides, Mrs. R. M. Tolhurst, chairman of the Dominion executive, attended, and Mrs. R. J. Coates, Auckland Province Commissioner, was also present. The week will end on Saturday.
