BENEVOLENT SOCIETY

FAREWELL TO SECRETARY After holding the office of honorary secretary to the Onehunga Ladies' benevolent Society for the past fifteen years, Mrs. A. M. Parker, at yesterday's meeting of the society, was tendered a farewell on her leaving the district for 'Kohimarama. The president, Mrs.D. D. Scott, in presenting Mrs. Parker with a writer's companion and cosy cushion, remarked upon the unostentatious and kindly interest she had always taken in the welfare ■of those in distress. The members of the society and the poor of Onehunga would alike miss her sound advice and warm sympathy. In returning thanks, Mrs. Parker spoke of the hearty co-operation and harmonious support, which bad made her duties a pleasure. At the conclu.sion of afternoon tea, Mrs. Parker was farewelled with musical honours.
