TWO MAORIS FINED £5

THEFT AND RECEIVING

[FROM OUR OWN CORRE srOXDENT ] PUKEKOHE, "Wednesday Thretf Maoris appeared in the Police Court to-day on charges relating to a missing bicycle. The justices were Messrs. F. Perkins and D. McC. Armstrong. Henry Pompey pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a bicycle owned by Alexander Kano. Davo Broughton was charged with receiving the bicycle, knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained, and Harry Ncpia was charged with aiding and abetting. Tho two latter accused pleaded not. guilty. For tho theft of the bicycle, a fine of £5 was imposed on Pompey, Broughton was fined £5 on tho charge of receiving, and the information against Nepia was dismissed. Two months were allowed to pay the fines, and default was fixed at 14 days' imprisonment.
