BOWLEY'S FINE PERFORMANCE Jt was a brilliant spell of slow-bowling by K. n. Bowley, former coach to the Auckland Cricket Association, and member of the M.C.C. team which IT. Gilligan captained in New Zealand, that gave Sussex a good win over Gloucestershire recently. Before lujjch \V. I{. Hammond and A. E. Dipper had put on 154 runs, and Gloucestershire seemed qui to comfortable. But then Bowley came on, to cause a transformation, lie dismissed Dipper at 161, and llammond at 170. Then the pitch began to crumble, and Bowley took such advantage of this fact that the last seven wickets actually fell for only nine runs. Bowley, who finished with seven for 28, took four wickets with his last nine deliveries, for two runs*
