OBITUARY

SIR OWI-N COX NICE, July 31 The death has occurred of Sir Edward Owen Cox, M.L.C. of New South Wales, and a director of the Federal Steam Navigation Company, aged 66. Sir Edward Owen Cox (addressed as Sir Owen), who was born at Larne, South Wales, and educated at Christ's College, London, arrived in Australia in 1898. lie was a director in Australia of the Federal Steam Navigation Company and had been a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council since 3922. He held several important positions in the Commonwealth during wartime, including that of Deputy-Controller of Overseas Shipping, chairman of the Overseas Central Committee, Commonwealth Meat AdministraV? r : ai chairman of the Australian Meat Shipping Committee for tho Imperial Government. He wan knighted in 1918.
