Monday xV woman in charge of a fruit and confectionery shop iu Cambridge Terrace, hearing a noise in the shop, stepped from a room and saw a man at the till. Finding that he was discovered, the man ran for the door. The woman screamed loudly and her cries drew *a large crowd, some people leaving tramcars to satisfv their curiosity. The first passer-by who heard the screams met the man hastily making his exit, ana prevented him from leaving. The,thief was taken back into the shop and at the instigation of the shopkeeper was searched and forced to hand over a sum of money. Then, with the greatest nonchalance, he pushed his way thioug the crowd and leisurely strolled up the street.
