LEFT-HANDEDNESS

Sir,—Your correspondent "Left-Handed" has written referring to my recent lecture. It ia nocessary to point out that my "remarks" are not the "views" but the carefully checked findings of an impersonal and unbiassed group of research workers The great thing is to try to discover the fncis and not be so concerned with one's "views." However, 1 would point out that many of the instances of "clever" lefthanded people are quite in keeping with the findings of tho investigation, if pro pcrly understood. Then it is necessary to add that our investigation said nothing about the "intuitive gifts" of people or whether they aro not "very active physically." A. B. Firr. Sir, —I am left-handed and, according to Professor Fitt, one of those specially handicapped people. Yet my worst enemy cannot truthfully say I am intellectually dull, physically weak, or a nervous wreck. So far from myt left-handedne?s being a disadvantage in any way, 1 have been obligod to learn to uso my right hand, and now have the very great advantage over right-handed people of being practically ambidextrous. I know quite a number of left-handed pooplo, but not ono who would suffer by comparison (either physical or mental) with an ordinaiy righthanded person. Left Hand. Sir, —I can endorse everything that "Leftlianded" says in rogard to this subject. My observations on tho matter, over a number of years, have taught me that left-handers excel in all classes of sports j their judgment is better than righthanders. When playing billiards 1 have always found a left-hander a dangerous opponent, and tho same -applies to all sport. Why this should be I do not know, but if 1 required a man in my business where quickness and judgment were required, I would take a left-hander anytime before a right-hander. Left-hander No. 2.
