NEW ZEALAND KAURI
USE IN SHIPS' PARTS BOARD OF TRADE APPROVES LONDON. July 2!) The Board of Trade has approved of New Zealand kauri and Australian spotted guni for use in ships' parts and lifeboats. No knowledge of any increase in the oxJ>ort of liauri timber, as a result of tlio derision of the Board of Trade, was current in Auckland, a leading kauri merchant said last evening. At present small orders wero being received from London, although, judging by the sizes of the timber requested, it was difficult to say to what purpose it was being put. it was not anticipated that the Board of Trade's dc cisiori would have any great effect on the trade locally. It wa* thought that it was more in the nature of a formality.
