ATHENIAN CLUB
"A Night in the Jungle" was tho title given to the 'programme at tho Athenian Club's evening held in the Amatour Operatic Society's hall on Saturday. Tho stago had been arranged to represent a jungle and was brightened with gaily plumaged birds perched on trees and shrubs. Miniaturo animals looking through tho undergrowth niado tho scene most realistic. Tho hostesses were: Mrs. 11. Gilmour, who wore a frock of emerald green georgette; Miss H. Rainey, in phlox pink lace and satin; Miss E. "Warhaft, N.ilo green taffeta with chiffon velvet coatee. The wife of the president, Mrs. Wilfred W. Wright, wore lacquer red georgette with rhineslone encrustations. A feature of tile programme was tho distribution of novelties among the guests, between items. These took the form of small woollen animals and paper caps made to represent animals. The programme included a number ot entertaining items by Miss Coleman, Miss W. Hill, Mr. Beg. Pawson, Mr. Alan McElwain,' and Mr. Purdie. The opening scene was provided by Dorothy K:itipa, who gave a clever imitation of Mickey the Mouse. The accompanist for tho evening was Mrs. Mary Brett-Neill, and the dance music was playad by Coghlan s Rhythm Bo >' s - At ir w Among those present were: -Mrs. w. w. Wright. Mrs. W.
