AVONDALE WOMEN'S CLUB
The July meeting of the Avondale Women's Club was held last week. The president, Miss Newton, presided. Members endorsed the protests ntado by the National Council of Women at tho proposed dismissal of a woman supervisor of children's playing areas, and also {lie withdrawal of a woman officer on the Hospital Belief Board. Tho speaker for the afternoon was Miss Elsie K. Morton, who gave a graphic account of a trip across (he Pacific, touching at Levuka and Honolulu, and of her stay in California. She also visited Santa Cruz, which she described as a " garden of wild flowers." She was thanked for her lecture. Mips P. James sang several songs, Mrs. H. Bollard played the accompaniments. Tho serving of tea under Mrs. March's direction concluded a very entertaining meeting.
