CHILDREN'S BALL.
GAY SCENE AT TE AROHA. It would be difficult <to imagine a. moro brilliant scene than, that presented at the annual school children's ball at Te Aroha, ■which took place in the Catholic Hall last Friday evening. The 350 odd children who attended represented all the Te Aroha and district schools, and the colourful grand march, which was led by the tiny children, took well over a-quartet of an hour to complete. The Te Aroha Municipal Band provided lively music, to which the young merrymakers went through such dances as the ■"Sir Roger de Coverley" and the "Grand Old Duke of York," which were carried out with an enthusiasm that was thoroughly appreciated by the large adult section which was present. Supper, which was a very big undertaking, was carried out with care and despatch by the small army of lady helpers, in a manner which did them great credit. During the evening the chairman of the School Committee, Mr. J. E. Wild, presented school trophies to the winners as nnd^r Steeplechase Cup, Desmond Sharkey; tennis championship medals, Kathleen Maingay and Wallace Graham. At 10.30 p.m. the floor was vacated to the adults, who danced till midnight, to music supplied by Mrs. Glover's orchestra.
