FANCY-DRESS BALL.
BIRKENHEAD SCHOOL. The annual fancy-dress ball of the Birkenhead school, held in the Foresters' Hall at Birkenhead, was a" most successful gathering. The dancing of the 300 children in fancy costumes was greatly enjoyed by the large number of spectators. ' The dancing was under the supervision of Mr. E. B. Ilillam, acting-head-master, and Mr. F. Stephenson and Miss I. Wood, Miss M. Ponsford, Miss I. C. Anderson, Miss M. Osborne, and Sir. W. U. Herbert assisted with the floor arrangements. The music for the dances was played by Miss G. I. Banks, Miss M. Elie and Mrs. J. Gracio. The function was organised by a ladies' committee, comprising Mrs. J. Prickett, Mrs. S. Mills, Mrs. R. R. Hayman, Mrs. K. R. Taylor, Mrs. E. S. Logic, Mrs. R. 0. White, Mrs. J Gracie, Mrs. R. Kelly, and Mrs. H. Hnmberstone, assisted by the staff. The funds raised are to be devoted toward tho cost of the upkeep of the dental clinic, the committee having to find £4O during the ensuing financial year as the Birkenhead quota for tho main tenarice of the institution.
