WOMEN'S DIVISION.
f ' FARMERS' UNION. The Arapohue-Mititai branch of the yromen's division of the Farmers' Union celebrated its second birthday in the •Mititai Hall recently. Members and friends of the Dargavillo and Ruavvai branchos were present, and over 60 ladies sat down to the attractively decorated table, in the centre of which stood a beautiful birthday cake with its two lighted candles. In the unavoidable absence of the president (Mrs. Lambie) Mrs. J. C. Ambury, vice-president, made a speech of welcome to the visitors. A inusical programme followed, comprising a pianoforte solo by Miss Smith, violin solo by Mrs. W. Curnow, and songs by Mesdames Green and Cleary. A one-art comedy, entitled " Widows," played by Mesdames Downs. Green, and Ambury, caused much amusement. Competitions were won by Mesdames McCollough (Dargaville), L. Ambury (Ruawai) and Smith (Arapohue). Mrs. A. E. Harding gave an interesting talk on quilt making in wool. Mrs. Morgan (Dargaville) and Mrs. Murphy (Ruawai) thanked their hostesses for the enjoyable gathering. KARAKA. A very successful dance was held by the social committee of the women's; division of the Farmers' Union in tho Karaka Hall recently. The committee comprised Miss M. Egan, Miss H. Colquhoun, Miss M. Costar, Miss B. Neuman and Miss C. Jolly. Among those present were: Mrs. liewis, Mrs. Costar, Mrs. Neuman, Mrs. Humphreys, Mrs. Charles, Mrs. Hast'ie, Mrs. li€ver, Mrs. Wright, Mrs. McGee, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. R. Grant, Mrs. Lupton, Mrs. Jolly, Mrs. C. Grant, Mrs. Stubbs, Mrs. Carpenter, Mrs. Greenwood, Miss I. Thompson, Miss F. Kidd, Miss M. Bryant, Miss E. Thompson, Miss B. Grant, Miss M. Shenkin, Miss E. Bull, Miss F. Lever, Miss D. Bramley, Miss B. Fitzpatrick, Miss B. Gray.. ROTORUA. The monthly meeting of the Ngongotaha branch of the Women's Division of tho Farmers' Union was held over the, weekend, the president, Mrs. V. C. Florey, presiding over an attendance of over 40 members. During the evening Miss St erabridge gave an interesting demonstration of slipper-making. A roll-call of household hints caused much interest. A bundle of books was received from headquarters and these were distributed among members. Arrangements were made to hold a dance shortly in aid of the funds of the division.
