RECORD WOOL TRANSPORT. NEW SOUTH WALES LAILWAYS. The returns from Darling Harbour (Sydney) show that although only nine months of'the present financial year have elapsed the quantity of wool carried on the railways exceeds all previous records, according to a statement made lust week by the secretary to the Transport Coinmission. Mr. W. 11. Newman. Already 1,122,920 bales of wool have been handled at lJarling Harbour, which shows an improvement of about 5000 bales over the previous record figures, which were received in 1927-218, when 1,118,038 bales of wool were conveyed on the railways. It is expected that this improvement will be increased by at least another 10,000 bales by June 30, which is the end of the railway year. For the last six months a marked improvement has also been shown in skin and hide traffic. Over this period the railways have received £22,786 in freights for the conveyance of these commodities, whereas for a similar period last year only £14,123 was realised. There has also been a considerable increase in outwards tonnage from Darling Harbour for the last six months. COUNTRY STOCK SALES. VALUES AT FRANKTON. IMPROVED DEMAND FOR BEEF.
