FAT STOCK MARKET.

WEEKLY WESTFIELD SALE. RISE IN SHEEP PRICES. GOOD QUALITY OF BEEF. I A further distinct firming in sheep prices was tho chief feature at tfie weekly Wcstfield fat stock sale yesterday. Wethers, which had gained 9d a head the picy ions week, made another advance of up to Is 6d a head, and ewes were strong at late rates. The beef market, Low" ever, showed no change, extra choice ox beef being quoted at 20s per 1001b. and prime young cow and heifer beef at 16s to 18s. The quality generally was very high and some exceptionally fino cows made good prices. One line of splendid young cows and heifers made up 'to £6 2s 6d, only £2 below the top ox beef price. The yarding of sheep was average and the competition very steady. With tho advent of winter, sheep prices usually firm very considerably and yesterday's advance was not unexpected. Particularly heavy exports this year are a factor which will probably tend to raise tho local price level during tho next few months. Iho range of values yesterday was above the heads of exporters, but tho yarding was not in excess of local requirements. Ihe offering of calves was fully average and the quality was good. Competition was steady throughout, and although no advances were made, prices were firm at late rates. Pigs came forward in slightly fewer than usual numbers and late rates were fully maintained. The following 'is a summary of the prices realised for fat stock for the last two weeks at tho «Westficld fat stock j. sales: — This "Week. Last "Week.
