MONEY FOR BUTTER-FAT.

The butter manufactured by the Hikurangi Dairy Company, Limited, in March was 141 tons 13cwt., compared with 102 ton? 19cwt. for March, 1931, an increase of over 37 per cent. This made the total output for the current season 1342 tons, compared with 1135 tons for the corresponding period of last season, an increase of 18.22 per cent. The advances for the March supply of butter-fat are at the rate of lOd per lb. for standard quality, plus per ■ ib. for superfine, and total £11,140, as compared with £8306 for March last year, when the advance was •at the rate of for standard quality. The supply, of ci'cam is being well maintained. The Whangarei Co-operative Dairy Company s output of butter for the current season to the end of March was 1856 tors llcwt., and for the corresponding period of the previous season 1602 tori.s 17cwt., so there is an increase of approximately 253 tons for the current season. The total output last season, 1771 tons, has already been exceeded by 85 tons. The total distribution to suppliers last season was £138.711, but £145,724 has been distributed this season to March 31. The rates of advances for hutter-fat for the 1931 season'were substantially greater than tlioso made this season. Tho payout for the March supply is at the rate of 9id per lb. superfine and 9d standard, and will absorb £13,719, which will be paid on April 20. A splendid supply of cream is still coming to the factory, due chiefly to the abundant supply of feed throughout the district.
