A motor-car, driven by Mr. McLean, .struck a large stone embedded in the road formation between Kinohaku ami [vawhia on Saturday evening. The car '.skidded over a steep embankment and, although the vehicle somersaulted down ihe incline for a distance of about 70ft., the occupants escaped without serious injury.

Mr. McLean and a companion, howsver, were taken to the Kawhia cottage hospital, where their wounds, which were caused principally by broken glass, wero treated.
