SHOOTING ACCIDENT.

MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED. LONG JOURNEY THROUGH BUSH. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Monday. A compound fracture of the left- thigh and a severe laceration of the left knee were received by Mr. William Aldrich, aged 28, labourer, of Upper lluit, through the accidental discharge of a riiie yesterday morning when pig-shooting with a companion in Whiteman's Valley. Mr. Aldrich's companion hastened to the nearest homestead three miles away and returned with a stretcher and a rescue party. The injured man, who, in the meantime, had been made as conifoi'table as possible, was carried through the bush to.the road, the journey occupying several hours.

An ambulance was waiting, and, after he received medical attention, Mr. Aldrich was taken to hospital. His condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
