PENNANT FINALISTS. STANLEY CLUB SUCCESSFUL. MOUNT ALBERT WELL BEATEN. The final match in the Auckland Bowling Centre's pennant competition between the two section winners, Stanley and Mount Albert. was played on the Auckland green on Saturday, Stanley taking the major honours by winning in three games and making a draw of the fourth game. Such an ending was decisive as far as the Stanley Club was concerned and was somewhat of a surprise in view of the good showing made by the larger club. Mount Albert, during the series of section games. Ideal conditions prevailed. Bofore the games had progressed very far Stanley had established a commanding lead, which was maintained to the end. (ireat interest was taken in the match, and this was evidenced by the large gathering of spectators: A rink of Auckland Centre executive players was in attendance, and at the conclusion of the match the president, Mr. J. Pascoe, presented the large pennant to the president, of the Stanley Club, Mr. F. J. Hooker, and congratulated the winning players on their success. Mi. Hooker Baid his club was proud to have won the competition. He commented on the excellent conditions for play and finally called for three chcei'3 for the runners-up. The president of the Mount Albert Club. Mr. B. J. Harbutt, said that while he was a little disappointed that his club could n>t do better, he was glad to see Stanley having a win for the first time. THE GOLDFIELDS STARS. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 TE AROHA, Sunday. After holding the Goldfields Stars for the greater part of the season, Te Aroha has rewon them from the Hikutaia team, which wrested them fiom the club six weeks ago. The match was held yesterday in fine weather at Hikutaia. The game was conclusive from the tenth head onward, when the Te Aroha players gained a lead of eight points.
