SPORTS GATHERINGS.

MEETING AT PUKEOWARE. [from our own correspondent.] WAIUKU, Saturday. A polo tournament was a feature of the fourth annual sports meeting at Pukeoware, held to-clav at Mr. R. James' grounds. There was a large attendance. Three teams competed, one representing Pukeoware, one from Waiuku, and the third from Taurangaruru. Pukeoware beat Waiuku by one goal to nil, and Taurangaruru beat Pukeoware by four goals to two, Taurangaruru thus winning the tournament. CARNIVAL AT OTAHUHU. A 6plendid programme of hunting and riding events was held at the Otahuhu Trotting Club grounds. Mangere, on Saturday, under the control of the Otahuhu Sports Association. There was a good attendance and the entries were heavier than for many years past. Competitors attended from many districts. A feature of the day was the large number of young riders competing in the children's classes. The horse lumping competitions attained a high standard. The secondary school eporta held yesterday at Rugby Park were a decided success. A large crowd was present. No fewer than 14 records were broken, and two were equalled. Eleven schools wore represented. The senior shield was retained by Southland Boys' High School with IS points, Otago Boys' High School was next with 16J. and then came Waitaki with 131. Otngo won the junior shield with 13 points, Waitaki being second with 7. The gold medal for the senior boy gaining most points went to A. E. Nairmann, of Otago. The junior medal was won by A. Bryant, of Mosgiel District High School.
