WELL-KNOWN PEOPLE.
SOCIETY'S WINTER TENNIS. So many people seem to imagine that lawn tennis has a completely "close season" during the winter months in Britain, but they are quite mistaken in thinking anything of the kind, for a great many London society folk take their lawn tennis quite seriously in the winter, and, incidentally, play very well indeed, we are told. Lady Crosfield, who lives in one of the loveliest houses on Highgate Hill, has some perfect hard courts —as well as two lovely grass ones—and even in the winter time has many friends who come up and play each week. Mr. John Drinkwater, who is a neighbour of Sir Arthur and Lady Crosfield, often comes in to play a single with Sir Arthur, and Lady Pearson (Miss Gladys Cooper), who is Lady Crosfield's next-door neighbour, is constantly to be seen playing on their lovely hard courts with her husband, Sir Neville Pearson.
