PEER'S SISTER IN CIRCUS.
HIGH WIRE ACT BANNED. The Hon. Eileen Hood, the 21-year-old sister of Lord Bridport, might have appeared in a circus performance in London on a recent niglit—but at the last moment this feature of the show was banned. She had volunteered to be carried across a high wire sixty feet above the ground by a German acrobat performing at Olympia. All was arranged when the lessees of the building vetoed the idea, on the ground that the ultimate risk of accident would fall on their shoulders. " I think it is a great shame," said Miss Hood in an interview, " but the authorities thought it might be dangerous for those watching the show. I was quite prepared for the risk, but the risk to the spectators was another thing. " This was quite spontaneous, and appealed to tne. Anything prepared would hardly b e the same. I had complete confidence, but others had not. It cannot be helped.".
