ANNUAL MEETING HELD.

"A YEAR OF SERVICE."

A year of useful servico was disclosed in the annual report of tho Ladies' Harbour Lights Guild which was presented at tho annual meeting held at tho Flying Angel Missions to Seamen Institute yesterday. Tho Rev. H. K. Vickcry presided.

'■' The social work of the institute has been regularly and cheerfully done," the report stated, "and both the honorary and working members have increased in numbers." Various events for raising funds were carried out during the tho most important being the Nautical Fair. Tho committee expressed its gratitude to the girls and Toe H members for their help at tho institute, and at concerts given at tho hospital and naval depot. "Tho new institute, which the guild hopes to furnish, will help the atmosphere that wo all wish to create," tho report continued. "Some of tho capital wo have been busy collecting during past years may have to bo used for tho building, and our share we will willingly puss over to the general committee as wo are most anxious for the building to bo erected. During tho coming year wo intend to rcdoublo our efforts so that tho instituto and chapel will be worthy of tho men and boys who sail into this port." Appreciation was expressed of tho help given by the Mayoress* War Memorial Library League and by the Victoria League for reading matter supplied, and particularly to the latt>er organisation which lias tho nucleus of a fund for supplying a billiard table for the sailors. The balance-sheet showed a satisfactory financial position. Tho following officers were re-elected: — Patroness, Hor Excellency, tho Lady Bledisloo; vice-patroness, Mrs. Averill; president, Mrs. Preston Chambers; vicepresident, Mrs. E. 11. B. Milsom; honorary secretary, Miss Mario Marsack. A welcome was extended to Mrs. R. B. Davison and Mrs. G. T. Ilubson, new members of the committee.
