WORK OF THE Y.W.C.A.

With the object of making known and promoting interest in the work of the health education department of the Auckland Young Women's Christian Association, a social afternoon was organised by tho committee of tho department and held in tho Y.W.C.A. building yesterday. Miss M. Scarle, of England, who recently arrived in Auckland to take over the leadership of tho department, after visiting Denmark end America in search of new ideas and up-to-date methods of teaching gymnastics, games and dancing, gave a brief address, m which she explained how she and her committee intended introducing modern methods into the department. Members of tho committee had invited their friends tu the meeting, while also present were many friends of Miss J. Fisher, now residing in San Diego, who founded tlie work of tho health education department in tho Auckland Y.W.C.A. ten years ago. Tho room was artistically decorated with flowers and bamboo foliage by Mrs. Graham and Miss Hill, and a delightful afternoon tea was served by members of tho committee.
